The days seem to fly by when you enjoy your job as much as I do (please note the sarcasm).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am currently reading "Choke" by Chuck Palahniuk. This book is very good, but I keep waiting for the amazing twist that a person would expect from the writer of "Fight Club". I am already half way finished and I started reading the book on Monday. At this point in time I think I have it figured out, but that could all change in an instant. The book has already provided a multitude of crazy occurrences and outcomes, and I expect quite a few more in the second half of the book.
Shocking is not the right word, but it is the first one that comes to mind.
Somebody has a case of the Mondays
Office Space, what a great movie. I have watched it approximately 1 million times (that may be a slight over-exaggeration).
I definitely have a case of the Mondays.
I will return to my normal style of posting. Fat Dan apparently didn't take a liking to my previous post. I was only expanding my style. So much for improvement.
The weekend went well. I was finally able to relax and not have to worry about work for an entire two and a half days.
Friday started at The West End Tavern for drinks and dinner. Fat Dan was a little slow in getting there and I was already two pints deep by the time he arrived. I was a good 6 or 7 pints into the evening by the time I left and headed over to Tony Packo's for more drinks. A few more drinks there and it was off to Nino's for a nightcap. This place, as usual, was packed.
A strange thing happened in the fact that apparently some guy bought me a beer. I didn't know who it was and wasn't sure if I should accept a beer that another man bought me. I'm sure I made the right decision in drinking it and ignoring whoever bought it for me. I was sitting with a women after all. If he was hitting on me then he should have known better. I'm straight no ifs, ands, or buts. If he wasn't hitting on me then thanks for the beer. Or maybe the bartender just handed to the wrong person, but I doubt this considering I knew the bartender.
Saturday was very nice and relaxing until about 9:30. That is when the drinking festivities began. I made it to by my buddies house then. He had been drinking since 1:00 and was pretty much drunk. I drank out of the kegerator until about 11:30 and then we headed up to Nino's. Nino's was packed once again and women were buzzing around like a bee at a family picnic. They were all over the place. One women in particular took a liking to my buddy. It was funny, she was sitting at the bar by herself and asked him out of the blue to watch her coat and drink while she went to the restroom.
Around this time, I decide that it is time to do a shitload of shots. Jager Bombs and Washington Apples are the choice of the night. About 5 shots in 30 minutes along with a beer every 5 to 10 minutes and I finally started hitting my buzz point.
Ok, back to the women. She chatted with us for a long time and generally seemed interested in my buddy. But for some reason she kept talking about a boyfriend. I thought she was a little strange and I figured their relationship was a little off if she was sitting at the bar with two random guys while her boyfriend sat at home. Go figure, women will do anything. Of course my buddy slipped his phone number to her right before she left. Which leads me back to the above interjection concerning shots.
I kind of figured the shots would finally catch up to him considering he had been drinking for so long. He kept saying that he didn't know what was going on. I told him it looked like he was doing very well for himself considering he slipped her his phone number. I wonder if she will call. I think it will be pretty funny, with the boyfriend and all.
In the end the weekend went well.
Insights to a Dream (or a plan)
In a few hours, I will traverse across the vast corn fields of northwestern Ohio to the The West End Tavern, the Mecca of small town drinking.
The beautiful rainbow waterfall of golden, red, and dark beer flowing from the multitude of taps, will be a splendid sight for all to see. It is Sunday, I am at work, and I am not tired.
I stopped in the bar on the way home from watching the NBA All Star festivities. It was around 11:00. I didn't think it would be such a great idea but a friend was visiting someone in town and I needed to stop by. I mean what kind of friend would I be. I kept thinking, "this is going to be a horrible idea tomorrow morning at 4:30."
It turned out that it wasn't.
The thing is Nino's was pretty happening last night. There was a great deal of hot tail there and I wasn't so sure I wanted to go home. I went to bed around 1:00 and as 4:30 rolled around I hopped out of bed as if I had slept a full 8 hours. I know later in the day that this lack of sleep will catch up to me, but that doesn't matter because I hopefully will be home from work by then.
So that is my amazing thing. I bet that kept everyone interested.
If you still read this you're either really bored or Fat Dan.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Speaking of the NBA All Star festivities, Andre Iguodala got robbed. How does a 5'9", Nate Robinson, beat Andre Iguodala.

Iguodala performed one of the most daring and amazing dunks in the history of the Slam Dunk Competition. A pass from Allen Iverson off of the back of the backboard, head grazing the bottom of the glass, for a reverse slam. He then ran up the tunnel towards the locker room as if the contest was already over. It should have been. My friends, words cannot describe this dunk. Click on the video recap link. Iguodala had another highly impressive dunk as well. He bounced the ball of the floor, jumped grabbed the ball one handed, transferred the balled behind the back to his other hand for the stuff. All in one fluid motion. WOW!!

Nate Robinson had one highly impressive dunk. I will let you judge for yourself, which one that is.

One dunk in particular: he received a pass from Spud Webb, the 1986 Champion and fellow NBA midget, and jumped over him with a monstrous tomahawk. This was the only dunk he received a perfect score on.

The contest was a huge success and I can't wait for next year's event.

Good Times

Well it turned out that I ended up going to the West End Tavern after all.

Fat Dan changed plans and we were up for drinking.

It was a good time and I must admit that I had tons of fun for the first time in a while. This puts a huge kink in the whole going to the bar concept. Being up at 4:30 A.M. really puts me in a bad mood, and it is even worse when I am hung over. The day is not only ruined, but the nights are as well. There just isn't anytime to do anything. My sleeping habits will not allow me to fall asleep before 10:30 or 11:00 P.M. and if I go out I know I won't be in bed before midnight or 1:00 A.M. I guess this is the reality of being a professional. If only I could go back to my college days where I could party whenever I wanted.

I know I shouldn't complain about this but I just hate giving up my weekends. I work 50-60 hours a week and still have to come in once a month to be engineering support during weekend work. I don't get paid any more money work the weekend. I probably wouldn't complain as much if I did get overtime pay.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fat Dan's wife is trying to hook me up with one of her friends from grad school. To be honest I don't know if he knows or not, but if he doesn't he will know after reading this. She told me not to get her friend pregnant. I thought that was interesting comment considering I don't have a kid. It must realate back to Fat Dan's college buddy getting one of her friends pregnant and then married.
So if anyone so decides, drink one for me this weekend, because I won't be able too.
Have fun and be safe.
Ehh
Happy Valentine's Day everyone.
Nothing to report here.
Goals
My last posting spoke of my promise to walk away ahead in Wednesday's Poker Fiesta.
That goal was accomplished. I walked away up 40BB, which is a whopping $10. Poor Fat Dan had a losing session and that was partially due to me. I'm sure he wrote about it, go check it out with the provided link.
My next goal will be to get drunk this weekend. This goal will be an easy one to accomplish. I will be headed to Dayton, home to where I grew up and went to college. My connections are still quite prominent in that area, and drunkeness is sure to ensue shortly after my arrival.
Goal Three is to get laid. This goal is a little more difficult to ascertain. I have an old reliable in Dayton, but I haven't spoken with her in about 2 weeks. The hope is to meet someone new, but that doesn't always pan out.
In the end the only goal that really matters is Goal Five. Goal Five is to have fun and as long as I do that I could care less about the other goals.
So to anyone who still reads this crap, have a fun and safe weekend and be sure to drink one for me.
Poker Night
Tonight is once again the night of our bi-weekly poker (drinking, pizza, etc...) party at Fat Dan's.
I have decided that losing is not an option and intend on playing that way. The scary aspect is that a few players are completely unpredictable. Any flop could hit their starting hand, whether it be 2, 6, 7 rainbow or A, 10, Q rainbow. Proper betting will not always work, bluffing will be scary. Needless to say they are wildcards. To top it all off, I am sure drunkness will be involved in the playing style for players of this type. I have to be sure to play my best in order to walk away a winner.
In the end, I know that players of this type are what I want sitting at the table. Losing one hand to the wildcards isn't going to change my approach. In the end, I am sure to win more hands against them than I will lose, as long as I play tight aggressive.
I'll be sure to post the results. Hopefully, I end up ahead after all is said and done.
Until then....
Super Bowl a Super Bust
Adjectives to describe this years Super Bowl:
Boring
Sleeper
Dull
Lackluster
This years Super Bowl between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Seattle Seahawks was the worst Super Bowl in recent memory. Not only was the game poorly played by both teams, the officials were involved way too much on crucial plays.
I now have to put up with the celebration of all these Steelers fans in Findlay, Ohio. What a shame. I would give credit where it is due, but I honestly think the officiating gave the game to the Steelers.
Ben Worthlessburger's (only way I can spell his name) touchdown was too close to overrule, but what in the hell was the line judge doing. He ran in from the sideline signaling 4th down and changed is mind midstream to a touchdown. If that is not indecisive then I don't know what is.
The phantom pass interference call on Seattle's touchdown called back due to penalty was just that, phantom. No separation was created, no penalty, end of story.
The holding call that negated Seattle's first and goal from the 1 yeard line could be called holding only if blocking the opponent with your hands is illegal. I saw more blatant holding not called at least 4 times in the game alone.
Matt Hasselback's defensive block below the knees on a tackle, I repeat on a tackle???? This may have been the worst call in the history of the NFL, ranking next to Tom Brady and the Tuck Rule. At least there was a decent explanation for that call. This one, a 15 yard personal foul for blocking on defense, given to a guy making a tackle. See, in my limited knowledge of football, a guy on defense is trying to tackle the offensive player with the ball, not block the player with the ball. If tackling below the knees were illegal then Jerome Bettis, the man of 300 pound frame (listed at 255 but we all know that is a lie), would never be tackled.
I agree that I may be a bit biased against the Steelers, but I am not the only one who feels that this game was handed to the Steelers. Check out the links below:
Michael Smith ESPN
Skip Bayless ESPN
This will be a season for all Steelers fans to remember. The beat the Bengals because Carson Palmers knee was mangled by Kimo. The beat the Colts because Peyton Manning is a Perennial Playoff Choke. Jake the Snake (Fake, Mistake, etc..) is all I have to say about the Denver game, and the Super Bowl was given to them by officiating, well maybe not given to them. If the game was called fairly the Steelers still may have won, but we will never know.
But hey, those commercials were really good.
Luck??? Fun??? Money???
I seriously have no luck when playing poker, especially with only 4 people at the table.
When the cards don't come and you play poorly (like I played a few hand last night), a person is guarenteed to lose money.
Oh well, no big deal. I can still pay rent and shit which is better off than those who lose that much money.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I really don't have the time or the patience to really write in this blog anymore. My party habits have become quite boring. I blame it on the winter weather. During the summer time I am much more thrilled to go out. Maybe it is because the ladies are out full force in skimpy clothes. That just isn't the case in the winter. I'm also a little tired of seeing the same females over and over again. I need a change of party scenery, but that just isn't going to happen in Flag City USA, Findlay Ohio.

I have realized that my connections for partying in Dayton are much better than they are in Findlay. I get off way cheaper in Dayton than I ever could in Findlay. I know bartenders and bar owners in Findlay and rarely get out of the bar for less than $40-$50 (though I have had the few after hours nights,which I will never complain about). In Dayton, I drink more at the bar than I do in Findlay and have $8 and $19 tabs, and that is me buying for 4 and 5 of my friends. The $19 tab consisted of around15 shots, 15 beers, and a 12 pack for the road. Now I call that knowing people.

If anyone is in the Ohio region and wants to party just get ahold of me and we can head out to the bars.

Have fun and drink one for me.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://flagcityfun.blogspot.com/2006/01/luck-fun-money.html' title='Luck??? We don't play for a great deal of money but it is still better to win than to lose.

The first hand of the night I take down a large pot. I'm up about $5 already. My 5h2h in the blind hits on the flop: 55? This beats the JJ from the other player. I'm thinking that maybe it isn't going to be as bad as I thought prior to playing.

Well, let me put it this way, for the next 2 and half hours I lose every hand I play. AKs loses about 4 times in this span and not once do I have a pocket pair. Fat Dan tells me the poker gods are geting even with me for playing 52s on the first hand. I told him I was in the blind and that they were suited. He tells me that the blind was raised pre-flop. Yeah, $0.50 big deal. I'll play that early in a night just to see how everyone else is gonna play. Besides, who believes in poker gods????

For 2 and a half hours I would play solid hands and miss the flop ever single time. I wanted to quit but I knew that poker has its ups and downs and I just had to wait for the upswing to kick in. I'm down $12-$13 before I win my next hand. I play J4s from the blind. JcJh8c flops. I check, as does everyone else. A 4d on the turn. I have the full boat. I bet and get a call. Another club comes on the river. Flush possibility and I'm hoping someone hit it. I bet and only get called.

From this point on I hit my stride. My cards are actually hitting on the flop instead of missing. In the end I make a whopping $0.75. Not great but from where I was a nice way to battle back.

I was sick yesterday and missed work. I left the bed maybe 3 times the entire day. It wasn't pretty at all.

It is Friday and I have no idea what I am getting into.

I'll let you know. Until then....

I'm Back (at least partially)

Well, I guess I will consider my hiatus partially over. It is great knowing people that work places.

I also capped the night off by getting some. It came as a total surprise but you will definately not hear me complain. (Well I guess I could have been more drunk, I at least could get it up without any problems).

Tomorrow night is Poker Night at Fat Dan's place. I'll be sure to take someone's money. At least that is how I see it. My friends are opening for MushroomHead. If anybody is around check them out. Look for Hucklebuck or whatever the hell they call themselves now. If you like rock you will be sure to enjoy yourself.

I will definately be on a drunken bender that weekend. The concert the 30th. New Years Eve combined with a bachelor party. What am I gonna do with myself.

I'll be sure to keep anyone who still reads this informed.

Until then...

Freezing Friday

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

What the hell am I talking about? I hate the snow. It is even worse now that I have to drive through 5 foot snow drifts, for 30 miles, on my way to work.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, but I've been real busy with work.

Nothing exciting has happened at all since my last post and I'm hoping that changes tonight.

A typical Friday of going to the West End Tavern after work and then Nino's for the night cap.

Hopefully, the weather won't deter to many of the women from going out.

I have tickets to the Cincinnati Bengals versus Cleveland Browns football game on Sunday. I will be tailgating for a good 4 hours prior to game time. This means I will be tanked.

I'll be sure to post any new developments ASAP.

Until then behave yourself as much as I behave myself. The trip wasn't the greatest. I hate the snow when I need to travel and the roads were trecherous this go around (country roads are not the best to drive on in the winter).

I luckily make it to town safely and prepare myself for the nights activities.

I made it to my buddies house around 8:00 and started drinking. I haven't seen many of my friends in a few months so there was a lot of catching up to do. We drink till about 11:30 or so and then head to the bar to, as they put it, see some titties. I have no problem with this philosphy and was thinking it myself.

The night before Thanksgiving is considered one of the best nights of the year to go out. No one has to work the next day and everybody is in their home town. The bar is packed and there was definatley a great amount of titties to look at. I am very happy with the decision and go about my merry way of drink shots and talking to whatever female will let me. Sadly, nothing good really comes of it and its off to bed.

Thanksgiving was a wonderful mix of food, football, and sleep (somehow I did this with all the yelling going on at my grandparents house). I guess I have just grown accustomed to the fact that my family is loud in any conversation capacity and I have learned to block it out.

After my much needed nap, I cleaned up and headed out for the evening. Nothing to spectacular, just a shitload of drinks with my buddies.

Friday, was the night that did me in. I cannot properly explain to anyone how much I drank. I have no idea and I know that it was well too much. Two cases of beer, $70 worth of liquor, and 3 guys to do the damage. Before we put to much of a dent in it, we headed to the bar to watch this shitty band. I wasn't to impressed and the only reason we went out was to get out of the apartment. I meet a few buddies in the Oregon District and proceed to take about 10 shots in about an hours worth of time; Washington Apples are really good, but very potent. This is evident due to my bout between my mind not wanting to puke and my stomach thinking it might be a good idea.

On Saturday, I was well to hungover to think about doing a damn thing. Not to mention I had tickets to the Bengals vs. Ravens NFL football game the next day. Tailgating was gonna be fun.

Tailgating was fun, food and beer are the best. A few games of Flip Cup, early in the afternoon, can get the juices flowing quite nicely. I love Flip Cup and will play anybody at anytime, taking into consideration I can afford the trip and won't lose my job.

The Bengals dominated the Ravens and hold a 1 game lead over the Steelers who got hammered by the Colts on MNF.

At this point in time, I wish it was last Wednesday and I had a 4 day weekend to look forward to, instead of a 4 day weekend to reminisce about.

Work has been hell this week considering the Manufacturing Engineering Team is shorthanded due to vacation. I am pretty much the only engineer that really knows what is going on around the entire shop and I have to answer most of the questions being asked. Monday was much worse than today. At least one of the other engineers is back to help me.

I can't wait until Christmas break...

Weekend Extravaganza

Holy Alcohol Batman was the correct pre-assesment for the weekend.

After work on Friday, I made my presence known at the West End Tavern. To be honest with you, I love that place. A great beer selection and a great crowd makes me a very happy person. I proceeded to enjoy drink after drink with a handful of co-workers who were also ready to release a weeks worth of work tension and stress. After about 6 or 7 rounds a few of us headed to Nino's. The drinking was great at Nino's and everybody had a wonderful time. The group periodically would get smaller as the evening wore on. All I can tell you is that I got tanked. I knew that was the case when I decided that I had had enough for the day/evening. After about 7 or 8 hours of straight drinking the next day was going to be rough. It is very rare that I quit drinking but I knew it was time or I would be in really bad shape, especially with the planned weekend still to come.

I tried my best to be up at 8 on Saturday to start tailgating for the Ohio State game, but I was well too hungover from the drinking binge that had transpired the day/night before. I finally will myself out of bed around 11, and slowly start the preperations for the day to come. This included a couple of Advils, a few large waters, and a nice hot and long shower.

I arrive at Nino's around noon and start to prepare for the greatest football rivalry in the world: Ohio State vs. michigan (Note: I refuse to capitalize that wreck of a university). By preparations, I mean I started the festival of drinking all over again. Leinenkugal Berry Weiss is the weapon of choice at the time.

Ohio State provides a last second victory for the Buckeye Nation and all is right in the world. Ann Arbor is still a whore and always will be, and my hatred for the wolverines (noted previously) will never change. Jim Tressel, the anti-John Cooper is 4-1 against the team from up north.

The football day is not over with and the drinks are still flowing. Next on the agenda is the Hardin Northern vs. Delphos St. Johns high school playoff game. A large flask of Crown Royal Special Reserve in my coat pocket is all that is needed to keep me warm for this game. Unfortunatley, the Polar Bears of Hardin Northern lose in this one and end their season. I have to be up well to early to go out on Saturday night and after a day full of drinking this is fine with me (even though it was a battle of will power on my part).

I'm up at 7 on Sunday and on the road to Cleveland, by 8:15 for the Browns vs. Dolphins football game. A beer in my hand at 8:30 and I'm ready to go. The tailgate party was great and an enormous amount of alcohol was consumed. The Browns win but I could care less, I'm a Bengals fan.

I have to listen to the Bengals play the Colts on the radio. This game is a shootout and the Colts are a much more refined offensive unit than the Bengals. Final Score 45-37 Colts. I'm none to happy about the loss, but the Steelers lost to the Ravens and this makes the pain sting just a little less.

Thanksgiving is only a couple days away, and tickets to the Bengals game on Sunday is on the horizen.

Until next time Happy Thanksgiving and happy drinking...

Holy Alcohol Batman

In approximately 2 hours I will be sitting in the West End Tavern enjoying a nice cold Bass Pale Ale.

This week has been quite the long and uninteresting one, and to be honest, I am ready for a little excitiment. Honestly, she should at least have the common courtesy to offer me a drink first. I was feeling a bit parched from the drive. So after making her wait for just a while, I finally oblige and give her what she has been wanting for the past few weeks. I can tell that she is definately thankful.

The good thing about not being at my place is I can leave when I want. I'm gone before she even wakes up.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ohio State won on Saturday. This means it is Rivalry Week. Ohio State versus that team up North, Michigan. I can honestly say that I hate Michigan with a passion the burns brighter than any star in the universe.
I little background information that I learned today. The Univeristy of Michigan moved from Detroit to Ann Arbor in 1837. Ann Arbor gave the University of Michigan 40 acres of land only after Lansing was chosen as the state capital. The land in Detroit was subsequently sold and remains in UM's savings. Ann Arbor whored itself out to get a University only after failing to become the state capital. Thus, the saying, "Ann Arbor is a Whore." In reading up on this Michigan students seem to not understand. Probably because they are to dumb to understand the history and the correlation behind the saying. I know, I know, I'm being harsh and really shouldn't be. I have nothing against the students of Michigan, only their football team.
Needless to say this is gonna be one drunken weekend for me. Tailgating for the Ohio State game early, starting around 7:30 or 8:00 a.m. and continuing up until the Hardin Northern versus Delphos St. Johns high school playoff game that starts at 7:00 p.m.
The 7-2 Cincinnati Bengals play the 9-0 Indianapolis Colts. Should be one hell of a game. I'll be in Cleveland tailgating for the Browns game. I'm a Bengals fan and not a Browns fan but the drinking will be fun prior to the game.
Until next time, get drunk and get laid.......
Fantasy Football (and the bar and a bore)
I find it more difficult each week to stay faithful to my blog. Nothing interesting is happening and quite frankly I would rather not write than bore any readers.
I am now 9-0 in my Fantasy Football League, but I fear that will end in this coming week. I have 3 key players on bye this coming week and points may be hard to come by. My reserves are gonna have to pick up the slack.
Key players on bye this week:
Carson Palmer
Chad Johnson
LaDainian Tomlinson
Cincinnati Bengals Defense
Reserves in play:
Aaron Brooks
Joe Jurevicius
Warrick Dunn
Carolina Panthers Defense
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It was a rather slow weekend. I went to Nino's Thursday night and had a few drinks with friends. I of course didn't make it home until 2:00 A.M. which meant I was really tired at work on Friday. The price I pay to hang out with good friends

I didn't make it to the West End Tavern on Friday after work. My mom and grandparents came into town for a visit. It was nice to see them, I don't get much time to visit with them. After they left, I took a nap to rest up from the night before and for the night to come.

I arrived at Nino's around 11:00. It was a different crowd than normal, the male to female ratio was way off in a way I wasn't to fond of, too many guys and not enough women. I decided to perch myself at the bar and see if the night would turn around. It is obvious to many people that the DJ isn't very good. It kind of kills the mood. Around 1:00 A.M. I decided that it wasn't going to turn around and head home.

Saturday night was much better at Nino's. There was a band and the overall mood was much better, not to mention the male/female ratio. I proceed to make my rounds talking with many of the young ladies at the bar. A few phone numbers later and a few drinks later it is time for me to head home.

A boring weekend overall.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This week hasn't been to much fun either. Too much work and no play.
I pulled a muscle at the gym so I can't rotate my neck without an agonzing pain shooting through my body.
Oh well......
Hump Day
Today is officially "Hump Day." Not to mention, I've been doing quite the extensive cardio work out. I ran 4 miles last night and 3.5 miles on Monday night. Between work and going to the gym, my social life is boring through the week. No big deal, I try to make up for that on the weekend.
I'll be sure to post updates on anything exciting. I never know when the next great encounter will happen.
Until then..........
Weekend Extravaganza, or Maybe Not.....
Well it is Sunday morning and I've only got a few hours of work left. I've been here since 5:30 A.M. and I am ready to go.
I've also noticed that my blog has been quite boring lately, which means I've had a boring go at life lately. Hopefully things will pick-up.
Friday:
Tailgate party for a high school football game?
That's right, when The Hardin Northern Polar Bears play The Liberty Benton Eagles it is a battle. This game pits two undeafeated teams from the Blanchard Valley Conference (BVC). Hardin Northern is the #1 team in the state in Division 6 and the defending state champions. Liberty Benton is the #3 team in the state in division 5. This is two years running that both teams have been 9-0 entering this game. Last year Liberty Benton easily handed Hardin Northern its only loss of the season 35-0. Needless to say this game is supposed to be a good one.
This game is not only a battle for the league championship it is a battle of two different lifestyles. Hardin Northern is the small school out in the middle of the country, a school of country folk. Things you are likely to see at Hardin Northern football games: Carhartts, big trucks with mud tires, and Carhartts. Liberty Benton is the slightly bigger upper middle class school. Things you are likely to see at Liberty Benton football games: Pea coats and Mercedes Benz's.
The atmosphere is amazing, standing room only for this clash of the BVC titans. I can easily tell that both teams are not as good as they were last year. The game is an ugly game. Turnover after turnover. I am unsure if it is the pressure or if both defenses are this good.
Hardin Northern flexes its ground game while Liberty Benton's aerial onslaught is grounded. This is the type of game Hardin Northern coaches and fans wanted and exactly what they got. In the end, Hardin Northern proves superior this year, winning 21-13.
Be sure to check out Fat Dan's review of the tailgate party.
Saturday:
Work at 5:30 A.M. is no fun let me tell you that.
After work and a short nap, I watch a little college football. No big deal. Ohio State's offense finally exploded for 45 points, but the defense let the Minnesota Golden Gophers score almost at will in the first have. I can't wait until the offense and the defense actually put a complete game together. Final score Ohio State wins 45-31.
The USC Trojans drubbed Washington St. 55-13. Take that B(ull)CS(shit) standings. Texas is not a better team than USC. End of story.
Other winners include:
Penn State Nittany Lions
UCLA Bruins(in overtime)
Miami Hurricanes
Fresno State Bulldogs
On Saturday night I patrolled the local bar scene for a little bit. When I say "patrolled," I mean I went to Nino's. I know I have to work on Sunday morning and I can't stay out to late, but ehhhhh...I'll survive.
Elemental was playing. They are rock band based out of Fort Wayne, Indiana. I suggest checking them out. I really enjoyed their music and it was all original, no covers.
I enjoy seeing everyone in their Halloween costumes. It makes me wish I could actually stay out and enjoy myself. After spending quite a bit of time with some lovely ladies I have to leave. It is unfortunate that I had to, this post would be much more interesting if I didn't have to work.
Sunday:
I'm slightly hung-over and really tired, but I will survive.
The Bengals play the Green Bay Packers. Hopefully, Brett Favre doesn't have one of those magical games everyone is accustomed to Brett Favre having. It should be an interesting match-up.
Until next time.....peace.......
Midweek Review
It seems that I hardly ever have time to update this blog. I think that I have a few loyal readers, but I just get so damn busy that I don't have time.
Thursday Night:
I got a call from a good high school friend. He is going to Iraq and was only going to be in Dayton on Friday. Well I knew then that I had to take a vacation day on Friday to visit. So, it is about 10:30 P.M. and I know I get to sleep in a few extra hours before the 2 hour drive back to Dayton. I can go out. Nino's band, Three Drink Minimum, is playing at Nino's Bar. I meet Josh there and enjoy the good music and fine drinks. As the second band comes onto the set, I run into a few of the beautiful ladies I hung out with at the Rally in the Alley. Of course we have to catch up. They end up getting pretty drunk and one of them keeps begging me to dance. I enjoy dancing, but not in front of the entire bar. We would have been the only two dancing and I wasn't up for that. So I just sat back and enjoyed the view of her dancing. She can really move her hips too. It's about 2:00 A.M. and it's time to go. After all, I do have a long drive in the morning. Driving a long distance hung-over and tired is no fun at all.
Friday:
I wake up at 7:00 A.M. to call in my vacation day. I arrive in dayton and immediately stop by a good buddies house. We head to my grnadparents house so I can get some laundry done. I had about 6 loads to do. I really need to buy a washer and dryer for my apartment. After a few loads we head out for lunch. I always have to have Chipotle when I am in Dayton. The burritos are the best. It's 1 P.M. and I'm having Coronas with lunch. Awesome, tonight is going to end up in a drunken stupor with all of my closest friends. I do some shopping after lunch and head back home to get ready for the nights festivities. I head over to my buddies house around 7 with an 18 pack and a mission. That mision was to get hammered. Step 1-pregame at the friends house. Step 2-bar.
Step 1 consisted of a whole lot of drinking between the group of friends. A bottle of wiskey down, an 18 pack of Bud Light down, and a 12 pack of Rolling Rock down.
It is time for Step 2.
We head to the bar. I haven't been out with this crew in quite some time so we decide to tie one on. About 8 shots later, I'm dancing with the Prom Queen from my Senior year in high school. Yeah, I thought it was strange too. I haven't seen her since high school, and I'm home one weekend every few months and I could pick her up with out a problem. It must be this whole confidence issue. The more confident a man is the easier to pick-up women.
After leaving the bar I head over to another buddies house before going back to party some more. Well he and his wife happen to be in bed. Oh well, it's funnier this way. My budddy lets me in and i sit and talk for about 5 minutes. I ask where his wife is and he says she is asleep. Well, I'm half drunk and I decide it would be a good idea to wake her up. So, I go into the bedroom and jump in bed with her. That my friends is funny. I'm laying in bed with my friends wife and he is laughing about in the next room.
I finally decide I should leave, I need to get some sleep.
Saturday:
Recovery for the big Halloween party. Oh yeah, and trying to get enough bail money to bail my dumbass friend out of jail for a DWI. He blew a .236 2 hours after sitting in jail. Gosh, Idiot <in>.
Well I don't start drinking quite as early Saturday as I did on Friday. I get to the Halloween party relatively early. Why not with a keg and about 6 bottles of the hard stuff. My poison of choice is Jager and Bud Light. I am poured a triple shot of Jager to start the evening off. Yummy...Jager is sooooooooo goooooooddddddd.
I get myself a beer (in the 32 ounce gatoreade bottle I just finished) and the night is off and running. I drink a great deal of beer and a great deal of Jager. I end up going shot for shot down the table with everyone. I would take shot with one person and then move down the table and take a shot with the next. It is great seeing old friends. The positive thing about it is I wasn't the drunkest there. One of the guys ended up throwing is clothes in the bonfire, so he was standing there in his boxers. I'll post pictures later.
Side story:
He at least could have been original, I did this about 5 years ago when I tried to beer bong my age. Yeah I was 20 then and I bonged 24 beers and played a game of quarters. That is quite the interesting video. I woke up the next morning asking where my clothese were and everyone tells me I threw them in the fire last night. I was sitting outside next to the bonfire in my boxers. It was snowing that night, and I was an idiot. Oh well, it was good times.
Sunday:
Cincinnati trips on their own dicks and lose to the Steelers. I'm pissed about this game.
Monday and Tuesday:
I lead a boring life. To much work and no play.
Wednesday:
The World Series should start earlier. The game didn't start until 8:45 eastern time. I'm two beers into the night by the time it starts. I love 0.$50 leg night at Bw3's. Two beers later and I'm ready for home. It's only like 10 and in the 4th inning. I'm not gonna be up for the rest of the game.
Later.....
Thursday
Weekend Weirdness
I have to admit that this weekend was a rather unusual one for me.
Friday night Fat Dan and I drank a decent amount of alcohol.
It all started directly after work. Quarter drafts started at 7:45 and we didn't think it would be wise to head to the Regal Beagal after work. So instead, we went to my place and drank. BRILLIANT!! It was much cheaper and we didn't risk the chance of turning to liquor at an early juncture of the day. After a a good 3, 5, or 5 beers it was time to go. We get to the Regal Beagal about 7:45 bar time (7:30 real time). Just enough time to get one more good beer in the system before cheap Keystone Light quarter drafts.
The place isn't to packed yet but the crowd is leaking in at a rather quick pace. Quarter draft starts and we proceed to buy 4. Not to many but enough to tide us over. Keystone Light isn't the greatest beer, but warm Keystone Light would be even worse. After about 8, Fat Dan decides a round of Jager shots is in order. I'm looking at hime like he is an idiot, but I won't ever refuse Jager. It's only 9:00 p.m. and we are to shots already. I still have to go to Nino's tonight to meet up with some young ladies. I now realize it's going to be a long night and I have to be up early for the Ohio State Buckeyes' game. Priorties are all shot to hell at this point in time. A few more beers and a shot later, I have the bright idea that it would be smart to head to Nino's now instead of later. I figured it would be a much safer drive before everyone gets drunk.
We arrive at Nino's around 10:30. Not to bad. The place isn't packed yet, but it is well on its way. Fat Dan and I win a few games of cornhole and drink a few more beers before he has to go home. At this point in time the ladies I was supposed to meet were there and it didn't matter that he had to leave. Only ONE MINOR problem. There are about 3 different girls there, that I have been out with in the past few weeks. Time to do a juggling act. Which, I must say I do a wonderful job of. A few shots later with the ladies I actually was supposed to meet there and it's time to go home. After all, I have to be up early for the Ohio State game. So in total, I've had about 12 beers and about 5 shots.
Saturday morning:
The alarm rings violently, or at least violently in my mind, at 7:30 a.m. Great, I'm hung over and I'm supposed to tailgate today. I make it down to Columbus around 10 a.m. and traffice is a bitch. When will people ever learn to drive? An hour wait for parking and there is not time to tailgate. This is very shitty in my mind, I need the alcohol to get rid of the hang over. The game is a very good game from a fan stand point but very ugly from football standpoint. Ohio State beats Michigan State (luckily, they should not have won that game). Troy Smith is the worst quarterback this side of the Mississippi. His stats look good but that is all from the recieving corp. Smith continuously misses wide open recievers. I think it is time for Justin Zwick to get in the game. After all, he is completeing over 70% of his passes for the season.
I make the drive home after the game and decide I am not going out. I have to work at 5:30 a.m. and I don't think it would be wise. I'm tired from last nights adventures anyways. This is a very weird decision for me becuase I really enjoy going out. I even got a call from a few ladies asking me to come out with them. I must decline.
Sunday:
Work sucks. I can't stress that enough. It is even worse on the weekends. Hardly anything gets accomplished, but I'm not getting paid to be there and everyone else is. Thats horseshit. Enough of my rant.
The Cincinnati Bengals are playing the Tennessee Titans. This is a very good game. The Bengals don't begin to play until the last 2 minutes of the first half. The halftime score is 10-7 Titans. It appears that both coaches rip their respective teams a new asshole because the game play picks up a great deal in the second half. The Bengals offense takes over and the defense, like it has all year, gets the big turnovers when needed. The Bengals win 31-23 and are now 5-1 for the season.
Carson Palmer is definately the real deal. Nine straight games with a passer rating of over 100. This ties Peyton Manning's NFL record. Chad Johnson will once again lead the league in recieving yards, and Rudi Johnson is well on his way to 1,500 yeards rushing. That is a prolific offense that can put points on the board in a hurry. Next week the Pittsburgh Steelers are coming to The Jungle.
All in all it was a good but weird weekend. Two great football games but only one night of drunkeness. I hope the great football results keep coming but this one night out isn't enough. I need to cut loose after a hard week of work and one night won't do it.
Until next time..................
Finally it's Friday
It has been one hell of a week and quite frankly a boring one. I didn't do anything except work and workout at the gym. What an exciting week.
Tonight that is all gonna change. Quarter drafts, for homecoming at Ohio Northern University, with Fat Dan at the Regal Beagal. If my memory serves me correctly, I ended up on Fat Dan's living room floor with three women after homecoming last year. Don't worry I was plastered and hardly remember much of anything from that night. This night hopefully won't end up like that. I have to be up way to early to drive to Columbus to tailgate for the Ohio State football game. I'll spend my $4.00 and have about 16 drafts. That shouldn't be to harmful to me. What scares me is the thought of coming back to Findlay later on. I have to meet a few females at Nino's Bar and I know that I am going to want to stay up and party.
Priorities is the key word. I have to be able to function tomorrow. We'll see what happens.
Updates of the weekend come Sunday considering I have to work and I will be bored as hell.
I received this in an email today.
Surprise!!!
Ok, first off, work has been a royal pain in the ass of late. I'm always busy and it seems like no matter how much work I do I never get caught up.
For the first time in quite some time I didn't go to Nino's for the cornhole tournament. It was cold and drizzling, and I've decided that I need to start getting more rest. My body has just been fatigued lately. I figure it's time for me to hit the gym hard again.
It has been decided that Fat Dan and I will be going to Ada, OH (Ohio Northern University) this Friday night to attend quarter drafts at the Regal Begal. It is homecoming ther, and the parties are a blast.
The main reason I am writing today is to brag about the tickets I got to this weekends Ohio State game. I've been to Columbus for games before, but I've never actually been in Ohio Stadium or as many know it "The Horseshoe." Ohio State plays the Michigan State Spartans. This should be a really good game and hopefully the Buckeyes can win the game (Especially after last weekends loss).
Pictures of the Day
I would be absolutely terrified if I had to drive across this bridge
A class project? It is a typical Monday. On the bright side it is Columbus Day, which so happens to be my birthday. My 25th birthday. Time truly does fly when you have a full time job and repsonisibilites.
I had three dates with three different women last week and that seemed to take up a lot of my time. I enjoyed spending time with each of them but I don't think I am ready for a commitment. I'll just play it slow and see what happens.
As for this weekend, It truly wasn't the greatest. I did nothing on Friday night, and Saturday night was a major disappointment in that the Ohio State Buckeyes lost to the Penn State Nittany Lions. A group of us watched the game at Nino's. After the loss, I really wasn't feeling it all that much and Josh felt the same way. We decided to head home and call it an early night. As I was getting into my car to head home from Josh's house I got a call from the young lady I went out with on Wednesday. She was at Nino's and wanted to meet up. Shall I say dilemma. I decided it would be better off for me to go home. After all, I have a full day of drinking to do on Sunday.
Sunday consisted of cracking an ice cold Bud Light at 11 A.M. After all, It was gonna be a long day of golf. Scrambles are so much fun, but it was cold. I mean really cold, stocking cap, winter gloves cold. To top it all off it is windier than hell. I enjoy playing golf thoroughly, but on this day I am not so sure how much fun it is going to be. Turns out that between the group ahead of ours and behind ours we had a rather good time. Our team didn't play so well but it was fun. We shot 6 under par and we probably drank 2 cases of beer between the 4 of us. Hell, you had to be drunk to stay warm.
After the golf outing it was time to relax. After all my beloved Cincinnati Bengals were playing the Jacksonville Jaguars for the Sunday night ESPN football game. A 3 hour break from drinking and just enough time to relax.
A group of us head up to BW3's to watch the game. Findlay is Browns and Steelers country and there wasn't too many Bengals' fans there. Four tall Bud Lights later and I actually feel my buzz kicking back in from earlier. I'm feeling much better at this time but my Bengals are playing like shit. The ended up losing 23-20, but the bright side is they were in the game still. They did not play well at all and still had a chance to win it with 2 minutes left in the game. It's midnight and I am frustrated at the world.
Bad football weekend for this guy. The Buckeyes and the Bengals lose. Damnit.....
And all of that leads me up to this moment.
Blah, It's Monday
Update
I haven't been to faithful to the blog of late. I drank my fair share of alcohol considering I intend on it being an early night.
After leaving the WET (5 beers later) we head to The Rocking U pizza place a few blocks down. It is happy hour and 12 oz. drafts are only $0.99, or so we thought. Tax??????? I mean typically if you are going to charge tax you include it in your drink prices. It was real annoying paying a $1.06 for every beer I drank. I mean are they ignorant or something? No wonder the place was empty. On the positive side the pizza was real good.
On the way out the door (5 more beers down), Josh calls and he is headed to Frickers with Herbie. Well, I haven't seen Herbie in quite some time and I have to go. I have a few beers at Frickers and then we head to Nino's.
Herbie leaves after a few drinks and Josh and I start chatting with these two girls. We hang out, drink, chat, and dance. Well these two girls decide to go home with us, which is pretty good in my book at this time. I'm about 15 beers deep and I could use some.
We get to Josh's house and sit down and talk. Well the one girl Josh rode home with starts talking about how she misses her boyfriend and can't wait to get railed by him. At this point Josh and myself are extremely confused. We kind of just look at each other with a look of confusion. The girl that road with me is cool and never once mentions a boyfriend but the other is ready to leave. FUCK !?!?!? I'm not getting any. What a way to end the night. I intended on going home at midnight, but the oppurtunity arose, so I stuck it out till 3:00 A.M. and now, because her friend flipped out, I'm not getting any.
Question for the ladies: If you flirt with a guy all night long, not mentioning a boyfriend, and proceed to go home with him, what do you want??
Saturday:
8:00 A.M. I'm fucking tired, hungover, and pissed off from last nights results. Now I have a golf scramble to play in. I get there and I'm not to thrilled to be up. I'm hoping that once I get out on the course and get a few beers in me I will be fine. Yeah, no alcohol service on the course. Only place to get alcohol is at the clubhouse. We play a few holes and my head is starting to pound. I keep thinking about the night before and how it didn't end up worth all this pain. At the turn we buy a six-pack and a few tall drafts. Much better.
We finish the scramble at 6 under par. Not a bad score at Red Hawk, but we were definately not in the running to win it. We leave and head to a cookout instead of eating lunch at the clubhouse. Beer, football, and cornhole, such a great combination. Ohio State dominated the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Michigan Wolverins lost to the Wisonsin Badgers. I end up going home because I am wore out. All in all it was a good day.
A round of golf, a couple of great football outcomes, plenty of beer, and a few games of cornhole makes my any day a good day.
Sunday:
Fat Dan and I meet at Frickers to watch the Cincinnati Bengals play the Chicago Bears. Yeah, a great amount of alcohol consumption occurs. I have 5 tall bud lights by the time the game ends. The Bengals win 24-7. I go to Fat Dan's house after the game to watch the Pittsburgh Steelers play the New England Patriots. This is a damn good football game. The beer is still flowing and the game comes down to a last second field goal. It's time to go and I'm half lit-up.
Monday:
Hangover at work
Tuesday:
The Cornhole tournament is to be played. I didn't inted to actually play this week, but I needed a little extra cash and Josh and I are always good enough to make it to the money. Only 5 teams this week so a $100 payout. We sucked in the seeding round robin and go 0-3. It's not looking to good for us. Forturnaly all 5 teams make the tournament bracket. We proceed to battle are way to the finals. We are in the money again. I love it.
Wednesday:
Hangover at work. Offsite business meeting at the Findlay Country Club. Drinks are on the company.
Football Special
It is Sunday and I feel great.
I didn't go out last night due to the great amount of beer I drank Friday night and Saturday morning-afternoon-evening. It wasn't too pleasant.
We started the evening off at the West End Tavern. I haven't been there for about 5 months. I forgot how much I really enjoyed the atmosphere there. Last year it used to be an every Friday occurance that we ended up there, but during the summer months we always ended up at "The Rally in the Alley."
After the West End Tavern I headed back to Josh's house and we watched Strange Brew. This movie is hilarious. I highly suggest watching it if you haven't already. Of course we drank while watching the movie. I mean why not.
After the movie was over it was off to Nino's for the nights festivities, and of course we have to do Jager Bombs. Ten of them through the night to be exact. I was shmammered. I mean truly shamammered. My head face down on the bar for an hour. Thats when I decide I should go outside and puke. Josh last weekend and me this weekend. Oh, but I didn't quit. IT was only a minor setback. I kept at it. Needless to say I passed out as soon as I made to where ever I made it.
I intended to take it easy on Saturday. Fortunately for me I got a phone call from a young female from Bowling Green. She said she was headed to Dayton and wanted to stop by my place. I told Josh that she would only be there for a half hour and I would pick him up for the Ohio State football game. I was right. I knew what she wanted. Maybe I obliged, maybe I didn't, but in either case she called the next day asking me to come up to "see" her.
We head up to Nino's and watch the OSU game on the projector screen and drink some beer. After that we head to Fat Dan's house for a cookout and drinks. Well, we get pretty tipsy there. Fat Dan doesn't want to go out, but Squirrel sure as hell did. So of course we head to Nino's ( I spend a shitload of money there). In any case I take it easy and only drink a few beers and a few Jager Bombs. I chit chat with tons of girls and even got a few numbers. We shall see how that turns out this weekend.
Squirrel did introduce me to a new pick-up line that he says is 80% fullproof. Yeah go figure. So without further ado, here it is.
So do you wanna get some coke and do some hookers?
Yeah it seems strange and I tried it out a few times. It does get the women to stop and ask what the hell you said. Then I would change the subject and introduce myself. It seems to be a good conversation starter, or at least got them to stop.
Until next time....
Picture of the Day
All I can say is WOW!! There was a much better turnout for this tournament than last weekends. A total of 8 teams, in a two pool round robin, top two teams from each pool play in a double elimination.
Josh and I were finally partners and we did not disappoint early on. We breezed through the round robin going 3-0 outscoring our opponents about 66-20. Next was the double elimination portion. We play against a pretty good team. They have won the tournament at least once and maybe more than that. Let the spanking proceed. We are victorious 23-6. Josh and I were both pretty much on fire. It felt good to beat them because they always talk their shit. The clenching round was on my cornhole, 4 bags in the hole.
The winners bracket finals feature the two undefeated teams from pool play. This is another really good team. I think they have won it before too, and if I am not mistaken they took first and second in the singles tournament. Once again we dominate, winning 24-5. We are in the finals and in the money.
In the finals we end up cooling off quite substantially and allow the team we beat in the first round of double elimination win two in a row. I was quite disappointed, but what can you do? I still ended the night ahead in money, and I only had 6 beers and a shot. Work hasn't been as bad as last Wednesday.
Tailgate Galore: The Drunken Stupor
Saturday September 10th, is the day all Ohio State and Texas fans have been looking forward to for some time. This is the day where (2) Texas will batlle (4) Ohio State for glory.
The day started off horribly. It just so happened that it was my weekend to work, and I'm not so happy about it at all. I'm ready to tailgate when I wake up at 4:30 A.M. and I only have about 3 to 4 hours of sleep. Eight hours of hell later, I am headed home for a quick nap. I figure that it will be necessary for my survival. I intend to drink my body weight in alcohol for the game. I wake up about an hour later and go out to Oler's with the women that came over last night. This is my pre-drinking meal. I have learned that it is always necessary to have food in your system prior to drinking your body weight. This is the only safe way to not be hammered before you reach your goal. Everybodies goal is a little different and mine was to get drunk and hopefully get a blow job from a female from the local university. Maybe a little more if I could swing it.
After Oler's it is time for the drinking festivities to begin. Josh and I head up to Nino's and get prime seating for the Texas vs. Ohio State game. This is when it starts. One beer down, two beers down, three beers down. We've been here for about 20 minutes. How can it get any better, tailgating at Nino's, waiting for the biggest college football game of the year. Well, I can tell you how it gets better, Leinenkugel's Berry Weis. This beer is spectacular and at $1.50 for 16 oz. drafts it's a great deal. I must thank Nino for providing this beer, it was a wise decision. Nino also colored all the beer scarlet in honor of The Buckeyes. The game starts and I'm probably 7 or 8 or 9 beers into the evening. I'm only gonna drink more drastically through the game. Our entire goal for the night was to see how much alcohol or bodies could hold and I think we we well on our way to doing that.
The game lived up to all of the hype, but Ohio State loses which puts most of the local scene in a bad mood. Heavy drinking will ensue. Jager Bombs are now a priority. Three or so of these and a few more beers and I do believe Josh pukes in the trashcan. I tell him he can't stop because of ONE minor setback.
It seems throughout the night that many, many differnet women hang out with us and the "games" have begun. Josh always says that no women is worth the "A Game", and I'm beginning to think he is right. Josh ends up leaving with two females and I head to a party with his roommate and his rommmate's girl. At this point in time I'm about 3 Jager Bombs and 20, 16 oz. beers into the night. It's only about 1:30 A.M. and I'm thinking the night is young.
I'm ready for the keg party. Only there aren't any kegs. B.Y.O.B. and I've got nothing. I look at the girl I came with and say this to her,
"You better go shake your ass and get me a few beers."
She happily obliges. Other than the beer situation, this party is hot. There are tons and tons of hot women here. Half drunk and half ready to play with my balls, or at least that's what I am hoping. I end up talking to a few for some time and realize that they are drunken idiots and I wouldn't want to be imprisoned for something illegal.
Oh well, I still have one more place to go. I end up at the next after hours party and there is definately beer there. I drink and enjoy myself until 7:00 A.M.
Body weight in alcohol consumption = goal reached
I can honestly say that I haven't partied that late in quite some time. I think it is from my days in Dayton. I'll be sure to have a "Retro Day" and tell a few stories from the past.
Until next time.
Boring Friday Night
Tonight is no good. I have to work at 5:30 A.M. tomorrow and I can't do shit. I'm bored so I thought I would write to the few people that do come here.
Fortunately, I do have a friend coming over to watch a movie (I just got the call as I was writing this). I haven't hung out with her in quite some time. It should be fun. I'm not sure what we are gonna watch but it doesn't really matter. It's all about the quality time.
Now for the real reason I decided to post tonight:
Afro Ninja
Jeopardy Ninja
Mario Splash
Interesting Pictures
Airplane photo's breaking the sound-barrier.
This phenomena only happens at the instant an aircraft breaks the sound barrier and it literally looks like the aircraft goes through a wall.
<img style="DISPLAY: block; I highly suggest coming out and playing, it's a good time.
Josh and I thought it would be a good idea to to team up and play. Josh and I are decent players and felt like we had an opportunity to win. It couldn't hurt to earn a little extra cash, and besides the company at Nino's is always good. Not to mention all the alcoholic beverages.
It was a small turn-out for the night and it was determined that the tournament should be singles. Not the typical style of cornhole, but it gets the job done. 12 players in double elimination. Unluckily, I end up playing on Board 3. This board isn't the greatest, but it works. One set of bags that go with this board are horrendous. I end up with them. I'm already at a disadvantage. Not to mention I am working on a new style. I got smoked in round 1. Seven beers into the night at this point.
I faired much better in the next round winning fairly easy.
Round 3 puts me up against Josh. This is touted as a pretty good match up. We typically have battles when we go up against each other. Luckily for me, this was my night. I jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. 10 beers into the night and I'm starting to wonder if work the next day is gonna be a good idea.
Round 4. This round was a great match. We battle back and for the and I come out on the losing side, but I am happy with how I played. Unfortunately, I finish out of the money. 13 beers into the night. Yep, work is gonna suck.
A beer and a Jaeger bomb later and it's time to head home. 2:00 A.M. I'm partially drunk, and I know I have to be up at 6:30.
I can basically say that work isn't feeling to great.
In summary; I'm tired, I'm half hung-over, and I just don't want to deal with all the people at work. I live the "good" life.
Check back for NFL football drinking stories starting on Thursday night.
Ohio State 1-0
For anyone that cares, my beloved Buckeyes are 1-0 after defeating Miami of Ohio 34-14. We are heading to Nino's for a cancer fundraiser. Well, this is no ordinary cancer fundraiser, this is a wing off. All the beer I can drink and all the wings I can eat for a measely $10. It doesn't get any better than that. I proceed to pound 16, 10 ounce beers in a two hour period. That's not to shabby. I also eat about 25-30 wings. The best part was the wing eating competition. I have to admit this was funny. A race to see who can eat 10 wing the fastest. I have a few buddies in it. One decides that taking his shirt off would be a wonderful way for him to eat wings faster. Yeah that didn't work out so well. He had 5 wings in his mouth before he swallowed. Unfortunately he lost to a much smaller man.
Later that night is an absolute blast, I play cornhole with everyone at Nino's and then head to the Old Stoney Ledge. I've had about 30 beers on the night but I'm good to go considering I've only had 1 Jager Bomb. I also get to spend some quality time with a good female friend of mine. The night turned out wonderful. Much better than "The Fear of a Women" night.
Fear of a Women: Staying Sober for my Safety
Ok this happened last Friday. It's football season and I'm going to a high school football game with Fat Dan. I get a call from this women who "dated" (or whatever the hell it was) my boss. I haven't heard from her in a year. No big deal, I can talk on the phone. No harm, no foul. Well, I get a call back from her about an hour later saying she is at the football game I'm at to see me. Does anyone else think this is strange? I mention the game I'm going to and she shows up unexpectedly. She tells me that she is leaving for a year and the she just wants to "hang out." Yeah this girl is not my style at all. She has humongous breasts and a mole on her upper lip that compares to Mount Killimanjaro with a bad haircut. I'm personally scared for myself. Everyone else is telling me to hit it. Nope not gonna happen. She proceeds to follow me everywhere I go that night and she gets completely wasted. She is trying to hang all over me at the bar. Nope, not gonna happen. I continue to thwart her advances with all of my soberness. I seriously quite drinking just to make sure I didn't end up with that monstrosity.
Bachelor Party Day 3: Wrestling
We arrive back at the cabin and Fat Dan proceeds to get some rest considering he played poker all night long. It is around 8 A.M. and I've been a sleep for about 4 hours, which means I quit drinking about 3 and a half hours ago. I "politely" inform the nuisances that the titty bar doesn't open up until at least lunch and that we have to drive an hour and a half to make it to Niagara.
Fat Dan and I make it across the border without any problems, but the Bolivar Crew is stopped for a random check. Can anyone say K.Y. Jelly? We finally make it to Niagara and proceed to hit the casino up. I'm waiting to see how the Texas Hold 'em tables are gonna play while everyone else just jumps right in. 20 minutes later two of the Bolivar crew has already busted out. I see that there were many community flops and that you had to play very tight to make any money what-so-ever. Considering I've already had to Crown on the Rocks, I make the decision that I'm just gonna drink for the night and drink I surely did.
We proceed to the gentlemen' club later that evening. This may be the best gentlemen's club I have ever been too. The ladies are beautiful and there are about 200 of them. Ok long story short. A personal shot girl, a personal dancer, and a combined $1,700 leads to a wonderful night. After we make fun of Jared for who knows what, Jared talks of his newfound friend Paul. I do believe these were his exact words,
"I'm going to go talk to Paul, he's a construction worker, and he loves me."
I get left at the strip club and end up hearing about a local "dating" place. Considering I can't find anyone I came with, this gets very tempting. I decide to try the bars instead. I proceed to hit on every woman I see. Meeting women doesn't work so well without a wing man. I pass out later that night back in the hotel room.
Annoyed
Ok, so I did have a detailed description of day 1 for the bachelor party. Well somehow in the transfer of posting it to my blog, it was lost. So, this is just gonna be a short sweet version of it. It was a fun day but day 2 is much better and I promise to get into great detail on that. Read Fat Dan's posting for a more detailed version of Day 1.
1.) Fat Dan and I leave work on time, only to hear that Squirrel left work two and half hours early.
2.) We stop at Sam's Club for "necessities," Pretzel's, chips, and the all important Red Bull (gives you wings). A burrito and a beer at Chipotle (god I love that place) and we are on the road again.
3.) We meet up with the Bolivar Crew (Squirrel, Kevin, Rat, and Jared) at Burger King. Fat Dan gets hit on by some fat ugly chicks and I ask a ridiculously ugly women if she wanted me to get in the car with her. It was quite funny, she rolled her window down as I walked by, so I had to make a joke.
4.) Make it to desired destination. Damnit, the liquor store is closed. The liquor List will have to wait.
5.) Gas station to buy beer. Five 18 packs for six guys.
6.) Poker game begins in cabin. Everybody is drinking heavily. Beer, Beer, poker, beer, poker, beer, beer.
7.) Poker game ends. Approximately 8 beers left. Six hammered guys.
8.) Everyone passes out.
9.) Of course, the team I am on, Team Gordon Fisher, takes the championship. We played the #1 team in the league for the entire season, Centrex. Unfortunately for them the ran right smack into a brick wall when they cam acrossed us in the tournament. The were 15-0 during the regular season and only had two losses all season. Both of those losses came against us.
The championship game is to take place at 8:30 P.M. and our team starts to arrive at 7:30 so we can get loose. Centrex is in the middle of a game to see who plays us in the finals. The immediatly start talking shit to our team. Which is ok, but uncalled for in a summer league softball program. Oh well, we have determined that some of the guys on there team are assholes. We have guys on our team that can be just as big of assholes as them. Centrex destroys the team they are playing and reach the finals.
It is us versus them for all the marbles. We send our trusty coin toss expert Drew to the plate to determine home team. Of course, Drew wins just like he won every coin flip in the entire tournament. Way to go Drew, if it was something more important than softball I would consider you my hero, and I guess this does have to do with pride and glory. You are definately my hero when it comes to winning coin flips.
Anyways, the game starts and they proceed to not score in the first inning. In our half of the inning we proceed to string hit after hit after hit together, scoring six runs in the process. This does not bode well for them. From there on we have the advantage and do not let them back into the game. Anytime the put some sort of rally together, we come back and score just as many runs. In the end, we are the champions and there mouths were shut tight.
After the game we head to Ralphie's for buy 10 wings get 10 free. For the first time I actually thought that place wasn't horrible. Everyone drank some pitchers and ate some wings, with the big, beautiful trophy sitting at the table for all to see.
My Head Hurts
I'm not really in the mood to discuss last weekends bachelor party. I cannot begin to explain how excited I am. Fat Dan has a detailed description of what is to take place. I suggest checking his BLOG out. I think everyone will have a blast, especially with all the liquor we are going to have.
Thursday night will be a drunken stupor.
Friday will consist of gambling, possibly strip clubs (not sure if I'm gonna be able to get all the gamblers I'm going with to take time out for nudity), and plenty of alcohol to drink.
Saturday is the day I am most interested in. That is the night we hit the Hot Spot. Last time I was there I thought I was in heavan. If you recall how I spoke of all the beatiful ladies in The Hamptons, this place may be able to compete.
Keep checking out my blog and Fat Dan's blog for details of the entire trip.
It's Been a While
Ok first thing is first. Take a look at this picture I got at work today.
This is absolutely terrifying.
Ok now back to business. This was another interesting weekend. Friday was an utter waste, well I guess I won't say utter waste. I did get drunk. After work I went to the Rally in the Alley. Unfortunately, this will be the last one I attend this year due to issues I will discuss later. I had 5 Miller Lights. This is the slow start of what I'm hoping isn't a complete drunken stupor. The Reunion Band was playing and I'm sorry to say that I wasn't to thrilled with how they played. Don't get me wrong, they are much better than many of the other bands that play at the rally. For some reason, I'm just not in the mood for there genre or style. After the Rally in the Alley, I proceed to go to Oler's, which is considered by some the finest mexican restaraunt in Findlay. Well, I have a large beer there, while my friend Josh proceeds to drink the famous Oler's Margarita (basically tequilla) and flirt with an older lady having dinner with all of us. At one point in time I really thought that something might happen, but then I figured Josh would need about 3 more margaritas before any of his famous pick-up lines would come out. Well, after Oler's we head to Nino's. I have to take it easy considering I have two softball games early Saturday morning. Well taking it easy is in the eye of the beholder, and my taking it easy is punishment for those of lesser drinking stature. I polish off quite a bit of beer and liqour and proceed to stay at the bar until closing. Not the greatest idea I've ever had.
Saturday morning, is hell. I'm not really hung over, just a bit tired from the lack of sleep. I mean after all 4 hours of sleep after a night on the town really doesn't do it for me. After showering to try to wake myself up, I learn that the game has been postponed for an hour. Now I'm pissed, because that was an extra hour of sleep I could have had that I now don't. So the team proceeds to lose game 1 in extra innings. We basically blew it. 4-1 lead going into the last inning. That is one low scoring softball game. I think most of the people are still hung over from the night before. I know that I started to get a headache after profusely sweating in the heat. In between games 1 and 2 we cook out. Well, this basically means food, beer and cornhole. This seems like a good idea at the time. Well about 7 beers later, everyone realizes that we have another softball game to play. This game did not go so well. We basically got blown out, run-ruled. on the positive side, Josh got tossed from the game for telling the umpire that he knew the fucking rules. I'm telling you this is funnier than you might think. After about 4 innings of Josh and myself bitching to the umpire about how terrible of a game he is calling, the ump had to have been irrate. We basically question every call and his knowledge of the game. Yeah, were assholes, deal with it.
Ok, now that softball is over, the party is to begin. A diaper party, for a close friend, is scheduled for the nights festivities. Basically a diaper party is the male form of the baby shower where all the guys bring diapers over and the father to be provides a keg. Yeah, this was a blast. Beer Pong is in the game plan. We have a beer pong tournament for money. 6 teams for all the money and glory. Team douchebag, which consisted of myself and Josh, weren't exactly the greatest at this game. Though we did make it to the loser's bracket finals. This was still good, cause we got many games in and that just meant we had to drink more beer at a faster rate. It's about 10 p.m. and I'm half wasted. We haven't even made it to Nino's. Nino's basically is a trip. I have 4 jager bombs, a shot of tequila, and a few crown on the rocks. I can honestly tell you that I was hammered. I was so hammered that I didn't care that the young lady who gave ride home was in my bed, I preferred to talk about relationships and sleep. Oh well, considering we are seeing each other on a regular basis this is not a big deal, but it is rather funny that I would rather talk and sleep than possibly try and get some. I mean, who is to say I would have, but yeah.
Sunday is definately a hangover day. I was hurt real bad. Revel in my agony.
Monday consists of dinner at Oler's again. Only this time I split a pitcher of margarita with Fat Dan. Then we go to his house drink beer and watch football. Luckily, on Tuesday morning I don't wake up with a hangover.
Tuesday, 2 softball games tonight. I'll let everyone know how these turn out later.
Only 2 days left until Fat Dan and I head to the bechelor party.
Bachelor Party in 8 Days
In 8 days Fat Dan and I will be heading to NY and Canada for a weekend long bachelor party. This trip should hold interest to all of you poker fanatics and those of you just interested in good stories. I'll be sure to be taking notes playing poker and at the bars and clubs we will be attending. With Fat Dan and myself in attendance there should be plenty of great stories to tell.
On a side note, or for anyone that cares, the softball team I am on won two games last night. I can tell you that it was a blast. Life in the Hamptons is definately awesome. Hopefully, I'll be able to recall everything that happened.
We arrived in town on Sunday night and considering we hadn't had dinner, we went to the one place that happend to be open at midnight on a Sunday, a diner. This was definately not an ordinary diner, this was a diner with a fully stocked bar. JACKPOT!!! So my friend Huey and I proceed to order Corona and hard liquor with our dinners. I can honestly say that this was a wonderful end to an otherwise uneventful and long drive from Ohio. This was the perfect way to relax and relax we sure did.
Monday is a little hazy and quite frankly not that exciting to even be writing about but I'll give a quick recap of the day. Swimming in the mid-afternoon, shopping in the late afternoon, and drinks and texas hold-em in the evening. Typically, I won't drink and play poker but I figure that I am on vacation and what the hell. Well, I not only proceed to dominate poker I proceed to polish off about a 5th of Seagrams 7. So I'm pretty much polished off myself. Luckily for me poker is over. (On a side note about the poker game, we were trying to teach someone how to play so it wasn't for that much money. Unfortunately, I was getting great hands and wish more money was involved).
Tuesday consisted of more drinking and more swimming. Nothing to exciting just a 12-pack of beer to myself and a lot of foosball. Foosball is a great game. I haven't played the game since I was like 13 but I can tell you that I haven't lost my touch.
See Mondays and Tuesdays are pretty much slow anywhere you are and the Hamptons is no different. Wednesday is where it gets a lot more interesting. This is when we decide that the beach bars are the place to be during the daylight hours. We were damn right. Neptune's was the beach bar of choice. This place had everything; a sexy bartender in bikini; hot beach babes in bikinis, and whatever alcoholic beverage you could want. Seriously, what can be better than booze and babes in bikinis? I'll tell you what, a flip cup tournament. It's like 3:30 P.M. and I've had about 12 Bud Lights, a Pina Colada, and I'm about to play a drinking game. Huey and myself proceed to team up with the bars DJ and any two random females we can. DJ MC Steve is definately no slouch at the game and getting the women in bikinis drunk is not a problem at all. The entire bar is taking turns at beating us and can't. Basically, we end up drinking about 8 or 9 free beers due to our impressive winning streak. So I'd say its about 7:00 P.M. and I'm 20 to 21 beers deep. DJ MC Steve talks Huey into making a fool of himself. He basically has to run to the ocean, dive in, run out, roll in the sand for 10 seconds, and then make a sand angel. For a measly beach towel I wasn't going to do it, but I told DJ MC Steve that if he could find a female to do it next to me I would certainly join in the festivities.
We haven't had dinner yet so we head back to the five bedroom beach house we're staying at and our host has steak and chicken ready for us. We eat dinner have a few more beers and then head out to one of the local nightclubs. The place is real nice but pretty much dead at 10:00 P.M. We get bored and head back home to rest up for the next day. This was probably a very wise decision considering everyone's Blood-Alcohol-Level. I'm sure one of us would have ended up doing something extremely stupid. It's been known to happen, but I'll save those stories for Retro Day.
Thursday is a new day. Once again we head back to Neptunes and once again it has some real nice scenery. And once again we drink quite a few Bud Lights and once again we end up playing in the flip cup tourny. Today's flipping was a bit more difficult. It was windy and we had some pretty stiff competition. We still end up winning the majority of our games and pretty much get smammered. By this point in time, I'm very greatful that we have had a DD this entire trip. This night consists of more Seagrams 7 and I pretty much pass out dead ass drunk. By the time I get to the Seagrmas 7 I have kind of sobered up. After the Seagrams 7 I am smammered again. Drunk twice in one day is a pretty good accomplishment.
Friday is a wonderful day of relaxing. Spend about 5 hours in the pool trying not to drink until about 6:00 P.M. This is a rather succesful but rare occurance for me on vacation. I know that it is going to be a long night of drinking and I didn't want to blow my load to quick during the day. At 6:00 is where the real fun is to begin. Dinner and drinks. Needless to say dinner and drinks is wonderful. I have a Crown Royal on the rocks, a Vodka on the rocks (bartender made a small mistake), about 8 Red Stripes, and a few Miller Lights (unfortunately this place didn't have Bud Light). After that we hit-up the hot spot in town. This place is awesome. Tons of beautiful women and drinks are on our host. I pretty much drink and dance the night away. It was a complete blast. We get back to the beach house at 3:30 A.M. hammered knowing we have to be up at 7:00 A.M. To be honest with you the drive home kind of sucked but hey I've got a job and I needed a day to recuperate.
I can honestly say that the Hamptons is a wonderful and beautiul place to vacation at. If any of you get the chance I highly suggest doing it. There were no late night hook-ups with women or anything like that on this trip but that doesn't bother me one bit, and to be honest I wasn't even looking. I had fun and I wasn't at work for an entire week. That's all that really counts.
Easy Night Out.
Well last night was quite interesting. It was definately an easy night out. I decided not to get hammered for the sake of saving money for my vacation to the Hamptons and Atlantic City.
I leave work at 4:30 (it's been quite some time since I left on time) and head straight to the "Rally in the Alley" with Fat Dan. We proceed to listen to the worst band I have ever heard play there. It gets sot bad that we clap, hoot, and holler when they announce their break. I guess you could call us dicks and it wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit. By the way I highly suggest that if you hear of a band name "Fritz and the Kid" to avoid them like the black plague. Trust me you'll thank me for that advice, and if you ignore it, so be it, your the one suffering.
Well considering I plan on taking it easy tonight, I proceed to drink three beers and two Sparks at the Rally in approximately two hours. Fat Dan also proceeds to drink two beers and three Sparks (I also suggest trying a Sparks out sometime. It's a 16 ounce alcoholic energy drink. Quite good if I do say so myself).
For the first time in two years I must leave the Rally early. Of course it's to go to a raffle in which I have a chance at winning $4,000. All the food and beer you can eat and drink for three or more straight hours. At this point in time I'm beginning to wonder why I plan on taking it easy. Well, I eat dinner and have a single beer at the raffle, an entire two and a half hours, and proceed to blow what little money I had on me buying raffle tickets. So much for saving money. Of course, I don't when a dime of it back (Sometimes I think I have a gambling problem. I'll have to write about my poker happenings in Atlantic City if I make it back from there alive).
I finally make it to the best bar in town, Nino's, at 9:30 P.M. (after a side trip to pick up my motorcycle). This is where the night gets fun. I proceed to play cornhole with Fat Dan, our boss, and our friend Josh. Josh is absolutely hammered. He swears up and down that he cannot see more than three feet in front of him, and the thing is I believe him.
After cornhole I watch him hit on every single female at the bar. It's quite hilarious. See his pick-up lines take the cake. He asked one particualr female if she wanted to go to his place to "see if her ankles can touch the ceiling." The best part about it is that she actually sounds interested in the proposition. He then ask another women if she was like peanut butter, great tasting and easy to spread (or something to that effect). This line also seems to work.
I don't know if anything worked out for him cause I left early myself. He did give me a ring at 2:30 A.M. but the young lady I left with answered the phone and told him that I was busy (think what you want, this is where your imagination could be right or wrong).
Next blog in a week, after vacation.
Enjoy yourselves and always remember the Theee F's of dating: Find 'em, fuck 'em, and forget 'em. I won't say that I live by that motto, but I heard it from an old friend and felt the need to pass on the advice.
Introduction and plans
Alright and here we go.
My first ever blog. I personally don't feel as if my life is very interesting, but sometimes I hear otherwise. Hopefully, I will be able to entertain you, as a reader, as much as I have learned to entertain myself and those around me.
I basically moved to a new mini-city, about a year ago, to take a job out in the middle of B.F.E. I didn't know one person in town (well maybe one). Fortunately the mini-city was only two hours away from my hometown. I figured every weekend I would drive back to town to hang out with my friends from high school and college (hang out means drunken stupors at the bars).
Needless to say, that thought process was completely incorrect. For the entire first week in the city of unknown, I had planned to make the two hour adventure back home. That did not happen. My adventures led me to a local festival called "Rally in the Alley". Apparently, this event takes place every Friday afternoon during the summer months. Let me tell you something; beer, live music, and hot women are a few things that will always catch my attention. This event had them all. I'm hooked (haven't missed one since I moved here).
I'm a 24-year-old, single male and recently, I've had quite the interesting stories to relay to my fellow co-workers. To put it bluntly, a couple of my co-workers mentioned that they rather enjoy hearing about my drunken bar adventures. See the thing is, many of my new friends are married and are not allotted the chances that I myself am (poor fellows, sometimes I feel sorry for the married individuals that I call friends).
Recently, fatdans, a co-worker who happens to blog himself, has been trying to get me to publish my bar life experiences. So here I am.
Tonight will hopefully be remembered in complete detail. Its hard to say that it will. It's a night to night battle to stay coherent enough to remember everything that occurs.
After tonight, I'll be vacationing in the Hamptons for a week. There will definitely be some crazy stories from that.
Check back on a regular basis and I'm sure everyone will get quite the kick out of my bar happenings.
